BRP Explorer Diagnostic & Service Software for BRP Vehicles (J2534)

BRP Explorer is specialized software (Portable version) designed for comprehensive diagnostics, servicing, and parameter configuration of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) in BRP vehicles (Sea-Doo personal watercraft, Can-Am ATVs/SSVs/three-wheelers, and Ski-Doo snowmobiles).

The software operates via a standard J2534 interface, supporting work directly on the vehicle through the diagnostic connector or on the bench (Bench Mode).

• Bosch ME17.8.5 — Full range of diagnostic, service, and engineering functions.
• Siemens M3C — Diagnostics, DTC reading/clearing, and complete DESS key management.

Note: Select the ECU type based strictly on the label on the ECU housing, not solely by the vehicle’s model year.

Key Features & Functionality

1. Diagnostics & Live Data

• ECU Identification (ME17.8.5): Reads VIN, engine serial number, model number, customer name, Rotax part/hardware numbers, firmware version (BIN file name), and delivery date.
• DTC Error Management: Read diagnostic fault codes with status codes and descriptions for both ECU types, and clear stored codes.
• Real-Time Data Stream (Data Stream):
  • Engine Speed (RPM)
  • Temperature channels (Intake, Engine, Exhaust)
  • Throttle Opening & Throttle Accelerator Position (TAS)
  • Intake Air Pressure & Battery Voltage
  • Status flags: Key Present / Good Key, Idle, Limp Home mode, Check Engine

2. Advanced Analytics & Service Counters (ME17.8.5)

• Hour Counters: Separate displays for total vehicle operating hours and ECU engine operating hours.
• Operating Mode History (Run time history): Displays accumulated time in minutes and hours across modes:
  • Normal,
  • Learning,
  • Rental,
  • Limp Home.
• RPM Profile Distribution (RPM Profile History): Graphical chart and log showing engine operating time broken down into 6 RPM ranges: 120–1999, 2000–3999, 4000–6519, 6520–7519, 7520–8159, and 8160+ RPM.
• Service Functions & History Reset:
  • View last service date, technician ID, and maintenance counter.
  • Selectively clear last-minute history, min/max value history, or perform a full reset of all history counters (Clear all history).

3. DESS Anti-Theft System & Key Management (ME17.8.5 & M3C)

• Supports up to 8 key slots.
• Read Key Code (Get The Key Code): Direct reading of the key UID placed on the vehicle’s DESS post.
• Key Status Assignment: Free, Normal, Learning, Rental.
• Key Editing: Add, change key status, or erase specific slots (Erase Key 1–8).
• DESS Management: Instantly activate or completely deactivate the DESS key check system in the ECU.

4. ECU Identification Editor (Unit Identification Editor – ME17.8.5)

Allows individual editing and writing of:

• Vehicle VIN
• Customer / Owner Name
• Vehicle Model Number
• Engine Serial Number

5. Integrated EEPROM Dump Editor (EEPROM Editor – ME17.8.5)

Designed for modifying EEPROM dump files (32 KB / 32,768 bytes) previously read using a third-party programmer:

• Editable fields: Engine hours, ECU hours, mode operating time (Normal, Learning1, Learning2, Limp Home), hours across all 6 RPM ranges, and maintenance counter.
• Automatic Checksum Recalculation upon saving the modified file.

System Requirements & Hardware

• Operating System: Windows 10 / Windows 11 (32 & 64-bit).
• Format: Portable (single .EXE file, no installation required).
• Interface Languages: English / Russian (switchable in settings).
• Compatible J2534 Adapters: Scanmatik 2 Pro, Tactrix OpenPort 2.0, and other genuine J2534 PassThru interfaces with manufacturer drivers installed.

Licensing & Delivery

• License Type: 1 PC / 1 Activation.
• Binding: Hardware-locked to the computer configuration (Hardware ID).
• Important: Transferring to another PC or reactivation due to hardware changes/failure is not supported.

Important Technical Limitations

• Direct reading/writing of EEPROM via J2534 is not supported. The built-in EEPROM Editor is an offline file editor. Reading and writing the EEPROM dump from/to the ECU must be done using a third-party programmer (e.g., PCMflash, CombiLoader, etc.).
• Reading a key code using “Get The Key Code” requires an active OEM DESS post connected to the vehicle/harness with power turned on.
