VolvoCarTool (VCTS) is a professional programming and diagnostic tool specifically developed for modern Volvo vehicles built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform (typically from 2017 to present).
The system operates using a physical VCTS hardware adapter that connects to the vehicle either through the OBD-II port or directly to individual control units in a BENCH mode setup. It interfaces with a PC running the proprietary VCTS Instruments software.

Core Architecture & Features
The VCTS software uses a strict modular licensing system. The base hardware adapter provides basic connectivity, but advanced functions must be purchased individually as software modules linked to your specific adapter license.
Available specialized modules and licenses include:
- Car Configuration Editor: Allows reading, editing, and flashing target configurations directly inside the Central Electronic Module (CEM).
- Immobilizer (IMMO) Data Management: Enables reading and writing critical immobilizer data via the CEM through OBD-II.
- SRS Airbag Reset: Features error reading, status clearing, and crash data resetting (specifically supporting TMS570 units) via OBD-II or Bench mode.
- Mileage Editor: Provides calculation and modification capabilities for mileage values within supported vehicle ECUs like ABS, Dashboard (DIM), CEM, and SRS.
- Key Functions: Grants the ability to securely add or delete vehicle keys using the OBD-II setup.
- Diagnostic Service: Unlocks comprehensive multi-system vehicle diagnostics and active service functions tailored for the SPA platform.

The tool covers Volvo’s full SPA platform line-up, which includes:
- Sedans & Wagons: S60, S90, V60, V90, V90 Cross Country (V90CC)
