Smartobd Mileage Support list
The DiagCar SmartOBD CAN Tool is a professional-grade automotive diagnostic and programming hardware interface designed for specialized workshop tasks. While “mileage correction” is one of its capabilities when combined with specific software activations, the tool is a modular platform used for multiple vehicle system repairs.
Core Functions and Capabilities
The tool operates by connecting to a vehicle’s OBD2 port to communicate with various Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Its primary applications include:
Odometer & Dash Service (DST): Used for repairing instrument clusters and performing KM calibration (mileage correction) via CAN protocols. This is often used for legitimate repairs, such as when a faulty dashboard is replaced and needs its mileage synchronized with the vehicle’s actual records.
Airbag Service (AST): A major use case for this hardware is repairing crash data in SRS (airbag) units. It supports over 12,000 airbag modules, allowing technicians to reset systems after a deployment without replacing the entire module.
Key Service (KST): Enables the renewal, unlocking, and repairing of used car keys.
EEPROM Programming: Features advanced read/write capabilities for memory chips (like ST 95xxx and Microchip 24C series) used in various automotive modules.
Technical Features
Hardware Interface: The kit typically includes the SmartOBD CAN Tool hardware, a USB security dongle, and necessary connecting cables.
Protocol Support: It supports standard CAN, K-Line, and GM-LAN protocols, with newer versions offering CAN FD support for modern high-speed vehicle networks.
Standalone Operation: Designed for professional use, it often bypasses the need for complex laptop setups by using direct-to-module software.
Activation-Based: The base hardware requires separate software “activations” (licenses) for different functions like Airbag, Dash, or Key services.
Important Considerations
Legal Compliance: In many jurisdictions, adjusting an odometer for fraudulent purposes (to misrepresent a vehicle’s value) is illegal. The tool is intended for legitimate repair and recalibration tasks.
Professional Use: Due to the complexity of SRS and ECU programming, this tool is primarily marketed toward automotive technicians rather than casual DIYers.
