To perform an OBD unlock patch on Continental GPEC2, GPEC2A, GPEC3, GPEC4, and GPEC4LM Engine Control Units (found commonly in Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, RAM, and Fiat vehicles), you must use hardware and software tuning tools that support a BOOT/Bench mode patch.
Once the patch is applied on the bench, the ECU can be reinstalled and read/written directly through the vehicle’s diagnostic OBD port without removing it again.
