A Launch X431 Software Renewal Update Subscription is a paid service used to extend the period of free software updates for compatible diagnostic tools after the initial free update period (typically 1 or 2 years) has expired.
For devices like Thinkdiag, Thinkcar Pro, and Mucar, these subscriptions are often offered as “all-software” packages that unlock or maintain access to the full suite of manufacturer-specific diagnostic software and reset functions.
Key Features of the Subscription
Latest Vehicle Coverage: Gain access to diagnostic protocols and codes for the newest car models (e.g., 2024–2025 releases).
New Features & Improvements: Includes firmware upgrades, optimized data streams, and new special functions (like ADAS or EV diagnostics) as they are released.
Online Activation: Most renewals are digital and do not require physical shipping. Once purchased, a technician typically activates the license remotely using the device’s Serial Number.
Duration: Typically available as 1-year or 2-year renewal options.
What Happens if You Don’t Renew?
Continued Basic Functionality: Most Launch and Thinkcar tools will not stop working entirely once the subscription expires.
No New Updates: You will lose the ability to download the latest vehicle software versions. You are limited to the software that was available on the device at the time your subscription ended.
Risk of Locking: In some specific cases or for certain advanced cloud-based functions, some features may become unavailable unless the subscription is active.
How to Activate a Renewal
Find Your Serial Number: This is required by the seller to process the activation.
Purchase: Buy the service from an authorized dealer or via the built-in “Mall” on your device.
Enter PIN (if applicable): If you receive a “Subscription Renewal Card,” enter the 24-digit PIN in the device’s Software Update > Renewal menu.
