Low Tire Pressure Light but Tires Are Fine Issue: How To Fix It

Reduced Tire Stress Light Gets On However Tires Are Great Causes & Repair
What to do when your low tire pressure light is on but you know your tire’s pressure is fine? There are times when the sensors or system malfunction, causing the low tire pressure light to come on when the tires are fine.
If your low tire pressure light is on even if the tire pressure is fine, you may need to reset the TPMS. The sensor battery might also be dead or the TPMS receiver could be damaged.
In this overview, we check out each of these factors comprehensive. We additionally take a look at the distinctions in between the differing kinds of TPMS systems and also reveal you just how to deal with the damaged light. At the end of our overview, we assist you make a decision if it’s alright to drive with the TPMS light on.
Factors the Reduced Tire Stress Light gets on with Correct Tire Stress
# Faulty or Unprogrammed Tire Stress Sensing Unit
If you dealt with the tire stress, yet the TPMS light is still on, you might require to reset the TPMS system with either a scanner or examine the treatment for your details cars and truck design. Often the tire stress sensing units shed the set information and also you might require to make use of an OBD2 scanner or TPMS Reset device to reprogram the TPMS sensing unit if every little thing else appears great.
Just How to Reset Tire Stress Light tpms By Automobile Design
The TPMS sensing unit can likewise be conveniently harmed, which creates the light to stay on. The trouble with a defective sensing unit is that it isn’t keeping an eye on the tire stress, placing you in jeopardy.
The sensing unit can be harmed as a result of particles or impurities. It can likewise be harmed throughout the dismounting and mounting of the tires, as unique treatment is required to make certain the sensing units are secured.
# Dead Battery in Sensing Unit
Straight surveillance TPMS sensing units require batteries to run appropriately. These batteries are made to last a very long time, however they can still stop working. Usually, the batteries could fall short every 5 to 10 years.
There can’t be any feedback through the system if the battery dies. This malfunction in interaction creates the light ahead on.

# Malfunctioning TPMS Receiver
This concern isn’t as typical as the various other 2, however it can occur. The receiver of the TPMS can stop working, bring about a loss of stress information from the tires.
There’s no rhyme or reason regarding why this takes place sometimes, besides it’s digital devices that can be imperfect. It will not matter what stress remains in each tire, the TPMS light will certainly begin.
# Grip Loss
Any loss of traction could cause the light to come on if your car uses an indirect TPMS configuration. When there’s a problem with the tire pressures, these systems use the wheel speed sensor information to tell.
When traction is lost, the sensors could determine the cause is low tire pressure, even when it’s not. This issue can bring about some complication, particularly when the light begins and also off regularly.
Indications of a Bad Tire Stress Sensing Unit & Substitute Expense
Recognizing Indirect vs. direct TPMS
A. Direct
Straight TPMS is made use of in the majority of automobiles when driving today. With this style, all 4 wheels have a sensing unit that feeds details back to the computer system. A signal is sent and the alert comes on the dashboard if the tire pressure gets low.
Due to where the sensing units lie, there can be damages to them when driving on severe roadway problems, such as dust driveways or throughout solution. They likewise spoil just due to aging, needing substitute gradually.
B. Indirect
Some makers choose the indirect system, which does not utilize a sensing unit on each wheel. Rather, the TPMS ranges from the sensing units on the anti-lock brakes. These sensing units establish when the turning rate is sluggish, suggesting that tire stress could be reduced.
Because it doesn’t fail as often, the indirect TPMS is considered more durable than the normal system. You aren’t going to know if multiple tires are running low since there aren’t separate sensors.
Up previously, it’s just been some European and asian car manufacturers that have actually picked this TPMS arrangement. Other automakers are discussing switching over, making it more of a standard option across the board.
Just How to Deal With TPMS Light
* Load Tire with Air
One of the most apparent remedy is to load the reduced tire with the correct amount of air. When the light begins, you need to constantly begin by examining the tire stress.
You can contrast the analysis with the suggested atmospheric pressure by checking out the vehicle driver’s side door jamb. You have to move on to our other tips if the light remains on despite the pressures being right.
Exactly how to Locate the Correct Tire Stress For Your Auto

2. Repair mistakes
The fixing you wage relies on the root cause of the mistake. You should see a qualified mechanic if you don’t have the tools to figure out what’s wrong.
You could spend $75 to $250 for parts and labor if the car needs a simple TPMS sensor. A dead battery will require a new sensor replacement. The price is going to be a little higher if the receiver needs to be replaced.
You can do the repair yourself if you have the tools to work on these receivers and sensors. By doing this, you reduced the price of labor costs.
3. Reset the light
You just need to reset the light if the light is on due to a problem after a wheel rotation or other service. A lot of suppliers have a simple means to reset the caution light. You can locate it in your proprietor’s handbook.

Can I drive with the TPMS light on?
If you notice this on the dashboard, you want to stop as soon as it’s safe to make sure the tires have enough air pressure. As the tire pressure continues to drop, you lose control. At the very least, underinflation causes tires to wear unevenly, necessitating frequent replacements.
Additionally, when the tires are fully inflated and the TPMS light is on, you may not know if there is a problem. A tire could be under-inflated and you ‘d have no way of knowing if a sensor goes bad and you ignore it.
As the tires run low, you begin to deal with:
Delayed driving response
Excessive tire wear
Tire overheating
Traction is reduced
Bumpier ride
Less on-road control
For the cost of adding air or repairing defects, it’s not worth the risk. Is it worth ignoring the auxiliary TPMS light?
