The SM2 PRO 3LED LIGHTS Switch Cable (often called a Boot Bench Cable) is a specialized automotive diagnostic tool designed to interface between an SM2 PRO J2534 VCI and a vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU). It allows technicians to read, write, and clone ECU data on a “bench” (outside the car) rather than through the OBDII port.
Key Components & Features
3 LED Indicators: These provide real-time visual feedback on the connection status:
Green: Indicates stable power supply.
Yellow: Signals active data transfer or signal activity.
Red: Indicates a fault or connection issue.
Manual Switch: Allows users to toggle the power supply manually or automatically during programming, reducing the risk of “burning” the ECU during high-voltage operations.
DB25 Connector: A standard pinout interface that ensures fast and accurate data transfer between the VCI and the ECU.
Labeled Wire Harness: Each wire is color-coded and clearly marked (e.g., BATT, VCC, KLINE, CAN-L, CAN-H) to ensure precise pinout connections to the ECU pins.
Common Uses
Technicians use this cable with tools like the SM2 PRO J2534 for:
ECU Tuning & Remapping: Modifying engine performance software.
ECU Cloning: Copying data from an old or faulty ECU to a new one.
Data Recovery: Reading data from ECUs that cannot be accessed via standard OBDII diagnostics.
Support for Specific Protocols: Newer versions often include K-Line support for older Toyota and Lexus models.
