Unlike older setups, the “SE” version functions natively without an external security USB dongle because the hardware unit itself serves as the security key.

 

Understanding the BFFF + AFFF License Pack

GromCalcTool software uses specific letter codes to define its permanently activated, subscription-free license tiers. This specific configuration includes two major software packages:

• BFFF License (GProg Pro Full Hardware Modules): Grants full read/write access to microcontrollers, secure processors, and EEPROM memory chips. This layer allows deep pin-out bench reading of MCU chip families like Renesas (RH850, H8SX), Infineon (Aurix TC2xxx, XC23xx), ST (SPC560), and Freescale. AFFF License (Dump Calculators): Unlocks the built-in library of dump calculators. Once memory data is read via the BFFF module, the AFFF calculators automatically modify the file to overwrite crash logs, recalculate data checksums, and prepare the module for reuse.

Additionally, standard SE retail packs are typically shipped as standalone programmer units without breakout connection adapters, which must be added separately.
